'MURDER AT...' and 'the last crumb'
CASTING CALL
We’re looking to cast a lead actress in one (or both) of our upcoming productions.
‘MURDER AT…’
There’s a killer in the cast! Comedy turns to tragedy as a murderer reveals themselves… but who will be their first victim? This play is a psychological drama, based around a cast of actors as they put on a series of plays at their local theatre.
Role being cast:
Penny Marshall (and Zara)
(Female, aged 20-30, any ethnicity)
Penny is an aspiring actress, new to the company and eager to please as she takes on different roles… in particular ‘Zara.’ Essentially this casting is two roles in one , so candidates should be able to develop and switch between both Penny & Zara, each notably different from each other in mannerisms and temperament.
Note: this is a large role, with a variety of scenes that cover the dramatic, comedic, romantic, sexual and violent.
We (currently) have 2 booked dates in May: Thursday 7th and Friday 29th taking place in Coventry and Sudbury,
Meanwhile, on 9th July we’ll be taking our top selling comedy to Ely…
“THE LAST CRUMB."
Set in, and around a cake shop, everyone must decide what their heart truly wants... lemon meringue or chocolate fudge! A case of mistaken identity turns lives upside down - Hearts will flutter, and tears will roll as this comedy tests relationships - and not everyone will make it to the other side!
Role being cast:
Roxanne
Ideal age 25-40, but will consider older. Any enthnicity.
Unhappily married looking for a bit of fun. Pretends to be her best friend Holly on a blind date - which starts all the trouble. The second largest role in the play and carries a fair amount of the emotional weight, but still with plenty of humour.
Rehearsals for both plays will take place in Hunstanton (PE36) and whilst travel cannot be covered at this time, we’ll be as flexible as possible around the candidate’s other commitments (as long as we can get the whole cast together).
Payment: If we can find an actress to fill both roles, a guaranteed minimum of £180 or 20% of the takings, whichever is higher.
